50,000 Personnel to be recruited in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) plans to recruit 50,000 new personnel in the coming years, CISF Director General Rajwinder Singh Bhatti informed during the annual press conference held in Chennai on 06 March 2025.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, he stated that efforts are underway to enhance expertise in fields such as Cyber Security and Data Science, Aviation Security, Training, Battle Craft, Weapons and Tactics, Anti-Drone solutions, and fire management etc. He further added that selected Domain experts will undergo advanced training, and become the drivers of new knowledge and technology into the CISF and also provide security consultancy to those in need.

Highlighting CISF’s role in women’s recruitment, he said that 8% of the workforce comprises women, and there are plans to increase this percentage. Recently, an all-women CISF battalion was established by MHA in Haryana.

Union Home Minister  Amit Shah will grace the 56th CISF Raising Day celebrations scheduled for tomorrow, at the Rajadithya Chozhan Regional Training Centre, Thakkolam, Ranipet District, Tamil Nadu. The Minister will also virtually flag off the CISF Coastal Cyclothon ‘Surakshit Tat, Samridh Bharat’, starting from Gujarat and West Bengal, respectively, from Thakkolam.

Over the past 56 years, CISF has significantly expanded its operational capacity. Currently, with approximately 2,00,000 personnel, CISF provides security to 359 key installations across India, including 25 states, 5 union territories, 68 airports, Delhi Metro Rail, 103 power plants, 18 nuclear facilities, 17 space-related installations, 47 central government buildings, 14 ports, 6 defence establishments, 37 oil and natural gas units, 19 steel plants, and 10 coal mines. The special security group of CISF provides protection to over 150 VIPs.

CISF also manages 113 fire stations across 22 states with a workforce of around 9,000 personnel in its specialized fire division.

The Director General noted that 60% of personnel in every regional division of CISF are posted from the respective sectors and after completing 10 years of service, personnel are posted to locations of their choice. He further announced the creation of a special division of 300 young sports personnel in CISF in preparation for the 2036 Olympic Games.

On the women’s front, the CISF women’s mountaineering team aims to summit Mount Everest in 2026, and the team is currently undergoing mountaineering training at several international locations.

On a daily basis, CISF provides security to about 1 crore people across the country. This includes safeguarding 75 lakhs passengers in Delhi Metro Rail, 10 lakhs passengers at airports, and 15 lakhs individuals in various industrial units.

In 11 districts across India, including Sivagangai in Tamil Nadu, solar power plants are set to be established in 16 CISF campuses.
